Last month, Lil Uzi Vert teased the album cover for his upcoming Eternal Atakeproject. The work has since been removed from the artist's Instagram page but it borrowed from the religious cult's logos and imagery. Using their keyhole symbol and reworking their slogan, Uzi was under attack from the group's representativesfor copyright infringement. The star has been quiet for the last few months before dropping his single "New Patek" yesterday. Much like the art that was previously teased, the single cover also has the keyhole image and Heaven's Gate is reportedly pissed, threatening to move forward with legal action.
Report says that the cult is ready to take proper legal action against the Philadelphian. Their reps said, "Our attorneys are working with [Lil Uzi Vert] on direct and clear infringement of trademarks, copyrights and use of logo. We are also dealing with expressions of ‘Fair Use’ which is cited when this kind of image is displayed. The artist has to be careful to not make full use of the spirit and meaning of the Group while altering images of it to make it look like he isn’t infringing. We will see what can be sorted out. It is in the hands of attorneys."
We'll see if Uzi ends up changing his album cover when Eternal Atake drops. It has been teased for weeks and although a release date has not yet been announced, it is expected in the near future.
