We've got some breaking news in the Bill Cosby sentencing as the judge has just announced how much time the comedian will be serving in jail. According to CNN, Cosby has been sentenced to spend 3 to 10 years in state prison. The announcement was made today after he was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home 14 years ago.
Cosby has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault but this is the first sentence that the actor has formally received. Prosecutors had reportedly pushed for the maximum of 10 years to be handed down.
According to the New York Times, Constand's victim statement was provided during the sentencing, where she wrote, "Bill Cosby took my beautiful, healthy young spirit and crushed it." Earlier today, a judge ruled the disgraced comedian a "sexually violent predator," forcing him to appear on a sex offender's registry. The judge in the 81-year-old's case believes he is being fair in his sentencing, saying "No one is above the law." One of Cosby's alleged victims, Kathy McKee, told CNN that she's experiencing "very difficult and deep emotions" about the trial, believing that he was sentenced accordingly.
